Most people think of Saskatchewan as nothing but flat, but you only need to take a trip to Blaine Lake to realize this just isn't true. The area consists of rolling hills, beautiful river valleys, boreal forest, over 50 lakes for fishing, swimming and boating, and lots of powder for the snow enthusiasts in the winter.

 

Blaine Lake area is a popular tourist area and is an excellent destination when looking to get away from it all. The area is full of things to do and see for the whole family. When you visit Blaine Lake be prepared to take advantage of all the excellent activities Blaine Lake has to offer.

 

There is always something to do or see and so much to do, no matter who you are!

Blaine Lake and area offer residents and visitors many amenities and we are less than an hour away from 3 major city centers. Blaine Lake is a popular tourist area with over 50 lakes and numerous beaches, camprounds and resortsonly a short drive away. The area is also popular for fishing, hunting, boating,nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. You will find a variety of wild fruit just waiting to be picked including saskatoon berries, cranberries, chokecherries,buffalo berries and even some strawberries. You even find fruit and other plants growing where there used to a farm yard, now long gone, but leaving behind delicious apples, raspberries, plums, you can even find rhurbarb and horseradish thriving. The aspen and boreal forest offers many plants and herbs of various varities also.

 

The Town of Blaine Lake is situated at the junction of Highways 12 and 40. Many lakes, campgrounds, golf courses and tourist attractions are located within a short distance of Blaine Lake. 

Our central location to three Saskatchewan cities (we are less than 1 hour to Saskatoon and just over an hour to North Battleford and Prince Albert) makes Blaine Lake a great location for people who work in those cities but who would like to live in a smaller community.

The landscape is diverse - rolling hills to the west leveling off to fertile plains and then to the beautiful banks of the North Saskatchewan River on the east. 

 

Ariculture is a very important industry in the area.  The fertile soil produces excellent crops and gardens. Ranching forms a large part of the rural economy. In addition to the traditional Saskatchewan farming industries, we are proud of the blossoming fruit and vegetable farmsthat are being established in our area.

Some of the town and area attractions are the beautiful mural painted by several local artists, Doukhobor Dugout House National Historic Site, the Petrofka Bridge Orchard, General Store Memories Museum and Antiques, the Riverlands Heritage Tour, the Crooked Bush and Saskatchewan's Largest Tree. The area offers numerous sandy beaches, campgrounds and golf courses, making it a popular destination for family vacations, boating, skiing, fishing, bird watching and also hunting.

 

It could be said that Blaine Lake and the region surrounding it have something for

just about everyone. When the snow begins to retreat and winter relinquishes its hold, those looking to enjoy nature can break out the binoculars to go bird watching, gaze in wonder at Saskatchewan’s largest tree, or marvel at the crooked poplar trees to the west of town.

 

For art lovers, the 12-40 and Beyond tour in July offers an opportunity to see works inspired by life in rural Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, the Spirit of the Prairie Art and Teaching Studio allows for a first-hand experience with the arts, and those who drive through. Blaine Lake can peruse the murals that have been painted on business exteriors by local artists.

Not spayed/neutered - $30.00

Restricted dog - $60.00

Fine for unlicensed dog or cat is

The Blaine Lake Housing Authority,

on behalf of Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, offers the

Social Housing Program. The Program is designed to ensure that safe, adequate housing is available to those who could not otherwise afford it. Our tenants benefit from a safe place to call home, a community they can enjoy and peace of mind.

 

Applicants may be considered for social housing only if they are an intended client:  

Senior Housing (24 units)

    ï‚· Individuals or couples, 60 years of age or older

    ï‚· Individuals near the age of 60 with a permanent physical or cognitive disability

Family Housing (5 units)

    ï‚· Households with children or adult dependents

 

Further to this, applicants must meet income and asset limit requirements to be eligible for the Social Housing Program. All applicants are required to complete an application form and provide verification of income and assets, as requested. Information provided by applicants is kept strictly confidential.

Applications are reviewed for eligibility and approved by the housing authority board of directors. Once approved, units are allocated upon availability on a priority based, point score system. The point score system considers adequacy, suitability and affordability when determining the priority of need.

Tenancy

   ï‚· Rent is based on income – 30% of gross household income, collected via pre-authorized payment.

   ï‚· Units are smoke free – No smoking in the units by tenants or guests.

   ï‚· Blaine Lake Housing Authority has a ‘No Pets’ policy that applies to tenants and guests.

   ï‚· Senior Housing tenants are responsible for paying a monthly utility charge for power. Heat, water/sewer and grounds keeping are included in the rent. Parking charges may apply.

   ï‚· Family Housing tenants are responsible for obtaining and paying for all utilities. A heating allowance may be provided to the tenant to subsidize a portion of the heating costs for the unit. Tenant is responsible for grounds keeping. (i.e. lawn mowing, weeding, snow removal, etc.)

 

The Blaine Lake Housing Authority is governed by a five member volunteer Board of Directors who have been appointed by the Minister of Social Services.
